Drove past the new rail hub along the Hume this morning and by the looks the sidings are joined up to the main line each end as a SCT Loco was sitting just outside the shed on the Wodonga end and two SCT wagons on the Southern end of the shed.
Mick.
No mention of these runs in the 16th October ARTC timetable... will they be timetabled? Or as-required?
I wonder if they'll run on weekends?
The CSR will come close to passing G522 waiting near Keilor. Would be a good shot!

To be poorly done by. To be 'ripped off'. To be given something less or of lesser value than deserved: "I only got three chips - he got five!" "Oh, you were jibbed!" ...

Is the terminal is growing in traffic as not much being discussed about the terminal 2 years later?Sorry for the late reply, the site manager at Barnawatha states they are flat out, with freights to and from Brisbane (4 per week), Perth, Melbourne and a shuttle to Melbourne docks. They appear to be offering an "end to end" service, ie they will pick up or deliver items to/from the terminal, be it pallet or container loads. SCT states they have 5 kiilometres of sidings within the terminal also it appears they have an X class on site to do any shunting required as nearly all there photos of the terminal has an X class in the shot.
Word I have is that SCT have vaccumed every available subsidy out of the Victorian government to build this site, possibly at the expense of other (non-rail) projects with greater potential, so whilst it is good for us, there are a few out there that hate rail at Barnawartha....Is the terminal is growing in traffic as not much being discussed about the terminal 2 years later?Sorry for the late reply, the site manager at Barnawatha states they are flat out, with freights to and from Brisbane (4 per week), Perth, Melbourne and a shuttle to Melbourne docks. Note: The private operators had been begging for rail access for Wodonga logistics for MANY years, successive state governments had been ignoring there requests. So its nice to see its now doing so well, so much for government "expertise"!

oh im not disagreeing with the terminal - im on this site and im pretty sure you all know my basic positionsjust that it has come at a cost. Its part of a broader funding discussion and market function discussion i guess. Ie how you set up markets so you dont need subsidies.
Yeah but it shouldn't be government's responsibility to build terminals i think. Especially if there is no demand. What would be worse, an unbuilt terminal that could exist, or a built terminal that has no demand (Ie white elephant)??
