I expect that someone will work this one out just as quickly but I like the shot so what the hell.
Going back to McAlister I went and found the location because of a story my father told me yonks ago. His mother came from the area north of Laggan and in the immediate post war (WW2) era he spent some time there on the family property. On one of his visits it was arranged that someone would pick him up from the train at McAlister. He duly got off the train one winter's morning about 5am and he described it as the coldest, bleakest place he had ever encountered. I recollect that as a kid the weather reports used to regularly name Crookwell and Nimitabell as the coldest places in the state so I well believed him.
Anyway, back to where was I.
