Around this time twenty years ago the rail scene in NSW began to change dramatically when Lachlan Valley Rail Freight train no.4168 commenced running from Sandgate to Botany. Using various combinations of 4486, 4701 & 4716, the train was tabled through Hawkesbury River around 12.45 each week day and quickly started attracting the attention of photographers who welcomed the chance to point their camera at something that did not resemble a big, dark blue box. Here are some scenes recorded during the first couple of months of operation from August 1999.
