RailPower reactivates CLF2

Another CLF/CLP rebuild has been reactivated and hit the rails this week.

CLF2 is owned by Railpower and it has been leased to SCT, along with C501 from Seymour, reportedly for use on Dooen to Appleton Dock container shuttles. The two locos ran light engine to Laverton yesterday

Work is continuing at Goulburn on reactivating CLF4.

What is the reason for new power SCT running a little short of power on the interstate traffic?

will be just the usual hire SCT do on that service pre christmas. I guess the VLs or CMs they have used in the past are either not available, or they got these at a better rate.

Where a bouts do Railpower fit in the scheme of things?

Are they a volunteer based organisation like SRHC, or are they more of a for profit type company like a smaller competitor of CFCLA?

As far as I can see, they haven't had a locomotive in service and hired out since El Zorro hired out S312 up until 2013, or have I got that wrong?

This is rather tenuously related, but since C501 is mentioned, does anyone know what the deal is with CFCLAs C502/503 and 508? Flikr had them heading off to SA on Oct 3rd. I know C508 was on long-term hire to SSR until July. Anyone know what she's doing now?

All three need work on them, 503 more than the other two. For the time being I think the move to SA is just to create a bit of room at Goulburn which needs space with a number of VLs and ELs coming back off hire. There are rumours there's a potential hire in the wings for Cs, but nothing definite.

CLF2 has been taken off the train for the moment, replaced by SCT006.

SCT006 arrived from Adelaide (presumably as a part of a Melbourne bound service) and lead the Wimmera Container service from Dooen to Melbourne on Sunday, with C501 and CLF2. CLF2 was taken off the train in Melbourne, C501 was spun on the turntable and lead the next Dooen bound service with SCT006. The SCT and C have been on the Dooen train all week since, due to return to Melbourne tomorrow.

CLF2 is back on the Dooen service and CLF4 is at SCT Laverton having come down from Goulburn during the week.

Should note that CLF4 was meant to go to Dooen yesterday but only got as far as Lara and needed a tow back from a SCT loco back to Laverton...  Teething problems obviously.
