Trains every 2-3 min on every suburban line (Greens New Deal proposal)

All very good and well for the libs to release a wish list of projects when they have no responsibility.

Not sure what's with the bashing, they're the opposition, of course they can't do anything themselves. An effective opposition points out things it would do differently to the current government and puts pressure on them to act.

It's the first time they've looked remotely like a competent opposition all year, although that's a low bar to cross considering how inactive they've been since 2014 as an opposition.

This is a good sign that there will be more focus on short term infrastructure spending and an increase in off peak frequencies which are both severely needed.

Andrews needs to keep increasing frequencies where infrastructure permits it, demand follows supply, just look at freeways and induced demand to see the effect.

I agree the current government has got caught up in building mega projects. Let's hope this long awaited January timetable introduces 10 minutes services across most lines all day.

The bashing is in response to some of the proposals that they had the chance to get off the ground when they were in government in 2010 - 2014 and items on the wish list that are not possible until after MM1.

The Greens can dream up whatever they want, they have less chance of being elected than St Kilda winning 5 back to back premierships. Likewise with the Belgrave line beyond Ringwood being any better than 3 or 4 trains an hour.

The same Greens are also opposed to road use charging for Electric cars.

Just build the extension on the North East of Greensborough and then you have the East west missing link without having to build more bloody roads. Simple......................

While we are at it, here are the transport projects that the Coalition want included in the State Budget.

The EWL had me laughing all over the place, when with Libs both state and federal just move on from this project. It's been almost a decade. Other funnies include the bashing of the government for Baxter, even though the fed libs have been sitting on the business case for a year. We know now why with such low BCR.

Clyde also had me in stitches after they took the project to the last election without any funding for the single track Cranbourne section. Labor has already committed to Clyde, once Cranbourne is fully duplicated.

The mentioned Rowville Rail Plan is the RFI multi billion dollar tunnel via Chadstone that will never be built for a hand full of TPH.

Electrification to Wallan and increased services to Upfield can not happen until MM1 is built. Im not sure where Mr Davis expects the capacity to come from currently.

Duplicating Belgrave and Alamein Lines? Not needed for a long time.

The only sensible thing he has suggested in the short tram extensions. Something that has been needed for quite some time now. I guess it's all very easy to throw out a bunch of projects that should be built when you are not paying for them, nor when you have no responsibility.

Luckily we will have to wait a few years to see if they can come up with some decent pre elections ideas.

I have no problem with that because they are in opposition, and I am sure the ALP would do so, if they were in opposition.

Yes I wish the Coalition would move on from the Project.

Chances are the Coalition would have just renewed the single track and constructed new level crossings. To get it done quickly they would have done it on the cheap.

Or they would drag Ventura down there to make a Knox Transit Link-like service because it's cheaper still. Laughing

If it's anything like the setup at Vermont South, the bus will depart as soon as the driver sees the train pulling into the station.
