Thankyou Railpage for financial advice.

When did Railpage Financial Planning open?

Can you publish your AFS licence number please. Otherwise I will interpret this "advice" as punting.

What has worked for me over the years is to do your own research. Do not be afraid to go against consensus if you are familiar with the company that you are interested in investing with and can see value. Do not be afraid of investing in small and mid caps. Look for companies that sell a diverse range of products. Yield is important, but secondary to value. Look for low P/E but be aware of investing in companies that are often shorted.

Stick to fundamentals and do not trade solely on technical analysis but take on board obvious trends such as ascending triangles with rising volume - they consistently point to good times ahead.

If investing with your own money, build a substantial cash buffer first so that you can take advantage of buying when you recognise that the price is right instead of missing out due to lack of funds because you are not willing to sell something else to pay for it.

I finally bought into BGA the other day. I wished that I'd done so sooner, but there you go. They are becoming a truly diversified company in the Consumer Staples sector and are probably not yet done with expansion, including bringing even more brands 'home'. Who here realises that among other products, they now own Vegemite, Yoplait, Big M and Berri? I financed the purchase by exiting my position in SSG which I bought for $0.68 per share in mid January last year and sold for $1.11 per share on Monday. I bought almost an identical amount dollar wise than what I spent on SSG. The leftover went towards a small stake in ABB and an additional amount towards accumulating more MIR under their Share Purchase Plan offer which guarantees purchase at a 5% discount to weighted volume average for the five days before the offer closes.

I am already a few percent ahead with BGA and ABB, but it is early days yet.

Yeah, nah, I don't know.

Let's say you did buy some bitcoin for $1 each in early 2011. Surely you would have been happy to sell them for $32 each in June that year. You'd be crazy not to, yeah?

Whatever the investment vehicle, knowing when to sell is the hardest decision in my humble opinion. But, as long as a profit has been made, your objective has been met.

Speculating is not for me. There's no shortage of listed companies that actually make and/or sell stuff, whose share prices have risen steeply either. For example, the share price of Redflow (ASX:RFX) has doubled in the past four weeks.

Mate, hard to say. Why? I’ve never actively disposed of any share holdings. But
Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency, well frankly the concept alludes me.
Interestingly, Elon Musk saying he will soon be accepting Bitcoin as payment for his vehicles.
