Okay a quick up date from around the traps when a quick round trip was undertaken within the last week. Thanks for the info, Toad.
BHP CM40-8M locomotive 5662 is still in the back track at Gidgi Siding, 270 km post.
Former Robe River CM40-8M units that were working at Cape Lambert under Rio are currently stored on the Cape Lambert triangle that leads to the old quarry.
All four units are facing west, from the east end is 9422, 9419, 9418 and 9411.
Former Hamersley Iron C44-9W unit 7093 which suffered cab damage from a load out incident (around March 2019) is stored written off with the two C36-7M units 5051 and 5052 on 38 Road at Seven Mile.
And the locomotives at the Pilbara Railway Historical Society museum whilst still intact are showing signs of weathering and ageing with a lot of broken windows on the former NSWGR carriages and some on the locos.
FMG, not to be out done, have track laid through Rio Tinto gorge on their Eliwanna line which branches off just before the Solomon or Firetail balloon loop next to the Wittenoom - Nanutarra Rd.
FMG C44-9W 003 and re-powered SD90MAC 903 were seen top and tail on a loaded rail train tied down on the beginning of the Eliwanna branch. A later sighting of another loaded rail train had two re-powered SD90MAC units.
The Landgate map viewer (much better resolution than goggle) shows all the stored locos quite clearly except 5562.
Just curious, if you might know, that region would consume a bucket load of fuel, is it road hauled from Perth, or ‘shipped” in?
