Lockdown being called today is the correct decision. Go early, go hard and cut it off before it gets out of control and requires a multi-month lockdown.

I wouldn't be surprised if this only needed one week, two max.
Mr. Lane
As I understand it, this is a very highly contagious Indian Variant, not before seen in this country, I heard that this strain can infect 5 people from 1 person, so yes, it's a much needed move, also of very much concern, is that the 10,000 primary and secondary contacts, that number is a worry! except the numbers to go upwards for a little while.

AJ was again parroting on tonight about the "totalitarian" "draconian" "world authority denying" lockdown measures in Victoria, (YAAWWWNNN), give us a break AJ, even some of you're colleges at Sky are saying that it is needed, (I wonder if he is an anti-Vaxxer)??

Victoria has recorded four new Covid-19 cases, bringing the total linked to the Whittlesea cluster to 30 as the state government prepares to announce a $200m support package for businesses hit by the lockdown. The news comes as it’s been revealed an 18-second sliding doors moment in Adelaide was responsible for the Victorian outbreak of the highly-contagious Indian variant of Covid-19.

It's a long standing problem with posting multiple links in the same post. It has been around for years. Perhaps @bevans can have it fixed for us...

It really is this simple

https://www.theage.com.au/national/clear-leadership-and-purpose-built-quarantine-crucial-to-beating-covid-20210528-p57w2k.html

If mining companies can set up camps in a few weeks, let's sub contract them to build purpose built quarantine

Add a cricket pitch a few tennis courts a athletics field, a cyclone fence plus its ready for varsity students accommodation............ hey presto future proof and future use

How were they supposed to know which vaccine was going to be the winner in June 2020? And if Norman Swan said it then it was probably a lie; he works for the comnitern after all.

I've heard that the Indian variant can kill you just from reading about it. So you'd better stay in your bunkers, Victorians. And be afraid - very afraid.

Don didn't say winner, was saying don't bank on two, Queensland uni fell through thats understandable but we knew others were in development, making deals he said, he didn't

Jailing teenage girls. Kidnapping train passengers. Port Adelaide fans returning it back from the MCG. It is to laugh.

This thing is dragging on a whole lot longer than even I expected... and as if to rub the irony in one of those 'vaccination centers' in Melbourne is now also itself a COVID19 'hot-spot'.

Fox has been screaming for weeks that his mob could start work tomorrow at Avalon, and have the place up and running in three months.
With the usual glacial pace of government, the Feds last week "approved in principle" to build at either Avalon or Mickelham, with the Feds favouring the former and Vics the latter. We were then gravely informed that a decision would be available in a few weeks.
We have had 17 cases of hotel quarantine transmissions in the past 6 months; what don't the Feds understand about (a)urgency and (b) the failures ins the existing system?

As usual the Government Insist on gaining approval from their union and big businesses partners to make sure they’re pockets get flooded with taxpayers funds.

This Is something that needs setting up urgently, If they really have to drag their feet on building a state of the art facility, well do It as a replacement of this urgently built facility.

It would seem that Governments have arranged under the table deals with hotel accommodation providers.

Just shows how politicised the whole mess has been.

The MOMENT that Fox mentioned Avalon, the hue and cry was "Dan's mate".

From then, the chosen site from the Vic govt was - anywhere except Avalon.

When Vic govt suggested Mickelham, which would be Feds responsibilty,
suddenly it is the Feds that are suggesting Avalon - a private deveopment they can shift the blame as needed..

Fancy that, Scomo letting Dan off the hook.

At least now the Feds have said "maybe",
the Vic govt has been given site acess and are doing site evaluation/planning and issued an EOI for both sites.
They just might need them both anyway.

cheers
John
  Carnot Minister for Railways

We need to get rid of State Governments. They and the Feds waste all their time and energy arguing among each other.

No way, the federal government can go.
