Corruption is the only reason why the Ouyen and GIFT and Ballarat terminals have been delayed or not going ahead.

Maybe the actual organisations can actually pull their own finger out if they want it done rather than rely on a handout from the government, like the mob at Ultima did.

Ultima goes via Ballarat. Ouyen will have to go via Ararat, adding 270km to a round trip (the equivalent of a one-way Melbourne - Bairnsdale or Warrnambool).

That's not stopping them from building a Terminal though. In fact, if they did build it and have it ready to go you might be in a better position to convince things to happen.

Probably the chicken and the egg.  And if I was looking to build such a terminal that depended on a line upgrade to be viable, I wouldn't trust this government to deliver even if they agreed to do so.

Just look at their track record.

There wouldn’t be too many businesses that want to run at a loss. The MBRP promise was 80 km/h 21 tonne-axle-load via Ballarat. As Mr O’Callaghan stated, unless trains can complete the round trip in less than 24 hours, it limits a regular service to 3 trains per week. Anything more would require another set.

The MBRP was one of those projects that, once started, needed to be completed in its entirety. All that it has achieved, left as it is now, is increase the competitiveness of road. As mentioned many times by others, perhaps that was the intention from the outset.

No no no.  We here on RP are very serious about trains.  We would never do anything punny.
