I'm sure there's a lot of "Not Invented Here" involved, but what is the problem with accreditation? Is R766 outside the loading gauge? Too heavy an axle-load? Another foreign steamer, Flying Scotsman got accredited to run around NSW.

Flying Scotsman was accredited a lifetime ago now. Accreditation was a lot different then.

There are a number of checkbox items that 'new' locomotives have to pass in order to gain accreditation on Network Owners tracks. ARTC shouldn't be too bad as R's can already run down south on their tracks. Its a new loco for John Holland and Sydney Trains. Its a bit of a long process but they will get there.

It's a significant step forward and it'll be great to see it in action on the mainline.  Hopefully we see it in Vic!

Thank you.

Apparently R766 is running around the yard at Rothbury under own power.  A first for a BG to SG steam loco conversion I believe.

What is the latest on R766 getting accreditation to operate on the SG mainlines, once the restrictions for the Canovirus are behing us it would be great to see a trip with it double heading with 3801

Nothing for a while.  Not sure if they've got all the paperwork in so that mainline trials start - they were busy on trying to complete that earlier this year.

The other hurdle is the ICE radio.  No idea if they've got that yet either.

Stupid Qs department, does TOC Waiver number 21001 mean that it is the first TOC waiver issued in 2021?

No!

Perhaps a number is allocated when the original application is made but some are 'issued' sooner than others.

You can sort this list on all sorts of criteria.
