Epping connection is still in Parramatta council plans, or maybe direct to Macquarie Park via Eastwood branching at Dundas.
LR connection to Epping from Carlingford is now off the agenda and replaced with longer term metro connection.
With the apparent go ahead for further study for the Parramatta Light Rail Stage 2, although that by no means guarantees it will proceed, it effectively rules out the more direct route from Dundas on the Carlingford Line route to Macquarie Park via Eastwood along an existing reserved road corridor, which should have been the preferred option in the first place. I suspect that the government may be stringing out a firm commitment to PLR Stage 2 until beyond the next election, when they can quietly drop it if they are re-elected.
Any future metro link from Parramatta to Macquarie Park should run direct via Eastwood instead of terminating at Epping, which would require interchange to and from Metro Northwest to complete the journey. The major trip generators would be Parramatta and Macquarie Park and it would be logical to have a direct connection between them without the need to interchange.
