    I've seen an ad pop up on facebook in regarding a small road road closure around Lyndhurst/Lynbrook, due to something getting built there nearish the warehouses there. Take it as you will.

    Worth noting that Qube's Dandenong cement train has been hauling a few containers lately.  Is this a nascent port-rail shuttle operation?

    Passing Dynon last weekend and looing into the north yard there were cement tanktainers stacked 3 high must have been 40 at least in and that was not including what was on the train.

    The observation on Dandenong is interesting.

    Pretty much, they're from industries in the area who want to use a port shuttle sort of train.

    I don't know if it's been mentioned, but where does the Dandenong cement train unload? As I've been noticing activity around the Kimberley Clark Siding when driving past on the bypass, then after I had that thought found out that yes that is where that unloads on Wongm's page...

    An interesting report by PoM was released yesterday.  Some real indictments such as the mode share of containers on rail has dropped from 14% to 8% from 2009 to 2019 (although the actual number of containers on rail hasn't changed much).

    - PoM are keen for a dedicated WIFT (Trugannina) to Port rail connection.
    - Support the Port-Rail shuttles
    - A rail link to Webb Dock.

    However, they also want more access for HPFVs.

    And here's little old me thinking it was High Profit Freight Vehicles. I must do better.

    Also, apart from Metro 2, can somebody also please advise on the best way to get rail access to Webb Dock?

    Webb dock line would have a similar path to the original. Main difference would be a bridge from Victoria Dock (Moonee Ponds Creek line) to Lorimer Street just West of the Bolte Bridge.

    My knowledge of different lines and docks in the Port precinct is a bit foggy, I'm assuming that this is the track that is on the immediate Western side of the Bolte Bridge.

    Would a rail bridge need to be anywhere near as high as the Bolte? If so, that would seem quite the obstacle to overcome.

    Anything other than an opening or high level bridge would isolate Victoria Dock/Victoria Harbour/Docklands (whatever it is called today) from the Yarra and access to the sea.

    Not to worry none of it will ever happen.

    That story is a fair old beat up.

    Half the story is about a single idiot who drove his side lifter with container down a residential street and collected a tree in the process, then when the news crews got out there, the worst they could find was a garbage truck and a builders truck, both of which drive down residential streets all day any day without so much as the raise of the eyebrow out of anyone.

    The back half of the story is the usual rent-a-quote from the save Willy road mob. They have a fair complaint, Willy road does get a pounding from trucks going to and from the port, but then again, it is a key truck route, so no real surprise there.

    By all means, get as many containers off road and on to rail as possible, but the above is just a beat up.

    Are these the same constituents/channel 9 viewers who complain to their local member and or Tracy Grimwoman about train noise and want the roads improved and widened so that they don't feel threatened by the cowboy truck aimers?
