The operating ban is currently in place, but again, is only for union staff.

I will believe it when I see it.

Remember, non-union staff will be able to run trains still - and *if* what you say is right, and *if* all trains end up in maintenance centres on Tuesday before 9am, they’ll be able to run a limited service to supplement buses. Just because it isn’t in the timetable does not mean it will not happen.

By the way, your Pinterest link is login-guarded - and I’m not making a Pinterest account so a kid can thumb anything in my face.

Ah ok, I thought that the ban was for November 2020 and it's strikes.

Went to Sutherland and saw MANY trains honking their horns. Even if the operating ban only applies to the unionised workers, it'll still affect the D sets.

Don't forget signallers are in the union too. No signallers - no trains.

*If* no trains at all run on Tuesday, I’ll come back here and pound sand. Don’t worry - but again, I’ll believe there’ll be *no trains at all* when I see it.

Does this mean that a unionised signaller could potentially stop D set operations in the areas they are in?

No, if there is indeed a strike, a unionised signaller wouldn’t be at work to do anything whatsoever.

it was a question about the chaos day...
but it didn't really occur so it doesn't really matter

I’m a man of my word. At this juncture, I will apologise to AheadMatthewawsome - who, despite not providing evidence to support his claim, was correct. No trains ran between 0900 and 1300 today.

Hi all, tomorrow there will be industrial action due to the apparent Privatisation of the rail network.

All union workers will refuse to drive all privately built trains. This will be causing a ton of delays for the whole Sydney Trains and NSW Trainlink network. With buses replacing some services where needed.

There will also be a ban of overtime for 2 weeks starting October 25th. It won’t affect me. I can only use buses for the foreseeable future because of a silly Security Alert!

If privately built trains is the premise then that would mean all trains on the Sydney network. I gather they mean foreign made trains or privately maintained trains.

Privately built trains have already seen network use in NSW why now is the union unhappy?

Yes, they mean anything maintained under PPP. Mills, OSCars, As and Bs.

Today’s action involves a ban on crew operating privately maintained rollingstock for 24 hours.

If anyone knows, what EMU rolling stock were they using today? Was it just Ks, Vs and Ts?

I know T4 was just Tangaras like usual, what were the rosters for other lines like?

Yes. There was major changes to the timetable. With most lines running about every 30 minutes. CCN and BMT only had V Sets, Sector 3 and 1 had just Tanagra's, and Sector 2 had a few Tanagra's, I only got 1. And had probably the last time we'll see this many K Sets in service. Usually there's 1 or 2 at a time there. T5 Cumberland, and T3 Bankstown services between Lidcombe and Birrong had no trains. With just the Liverpool services running. T1 services stopped all stations between Penrith and Hornsby, and Richmond and Lindfield. And T8 services only used the local tracks. And ended at Campbelltown. CCN, and BMT stopped all stations. With T9 services running though the City Circle! I didn't go down to the South Coast. But it was rather obvious that this wasn't their only problems...

Based on what platform alerts were saying, South Coast line was operating Waterfall - Wollongong and to Port Kembla. It would've been using Tangaras. The T4 was running Waterfall via Banksia and Cronulla via Kogarah services, just like it does during the off-peak. The only difference was that trains were running every 15 minutes instead of every 10. Because of that, my trip was only 5 minutes longer, so I'm pretty lucky.

By my maths, Sydney Trains would've been running 150 4-car sets today (110 T, 40 K). 201 if you count the V Sets. Seeing a Tangara on the T2/T8 is a very rare sight!

When I looked, Wollongong to Port Kembla was to be bustituted.

Hi all, this morning the RBTU announced as apart of their campaign to "prevent Guards being removed and prevent privatization". All trains are currently running at a maximum of 60 km/h today between 8AM and 10AM, and 4PM and 5PM. Didn't give that much time. More information is available here: https://rtbuexpress.com.au/rail-workers-will-run-trains-with-go-slow-in-industrial-fight-to-keep-guards-on-trains-and-stop-privatisation/

Hi all, I know this isn't trains, but it's still as important.

Industrial Action is planned for a TBA date for Sectors 3,5,6,7,8,9, and 13 due to pay disputes. The RBTU needs to give at least 3 days notice before a strike with buses. It could be as small as a free ride day, or a b i g , n a s t y, s t r i k e. Wish they would do the same for trains though! The RBTU accuses that Bus Drivers aren't payed equally between Sectors.

This may also affect some Trackwork Buses as well. Meaning that there may not be ANY service at all for the L1 Dulwich Hill line! Which is already gone to hell! More information here:

I bet you'll find that the L1 replacement buses will continue. They'll call in a charter operator.

Especially with the HSC going on.
