    Unless the NSW Premier reverses his decision on the wearing of masks indoors, he will fast become a one hit wonder when it comes to politics, (I note that most people are ignoring his advice anyway, the majority are still wearing masks,) some of the naysayers here may say but why wear Masks, Omicron is not that bad anyway, well, we don't know that for sure yet.

    The wearing of Masks is just a basic thing at the moment, it is NOT reintroducing lockdown's or anything of the sort, it's the simple message that he is sending to the public, as a leader, he should be AT LEAST continue with the wearing of Masks, this will go a long way to cutting down the community transmission of the virus.

    O.k, well the premise of the tweet is wrong, because how many DO take personal responsibility for themselves??  all Dom has to do is to reimpose the wearing of masks, that's it, I was at my local shopping plaza today, many were not wearing masks, but there were a few that were, I was wearing one. Masks slow down the rate of community transmission of the virus.

    Looks like the vaccinations are working. Best to get vaccinated and get on with life, masked or not.   Else feel free to hide under the doona.

    And yet the Twitter post says "Who’d have thought Boris and Dom would be the last men standing against the collapse of liberal society?"

    So you are having a go at the "liberal decadent west" but support the men standing against the collapse of liberal society.

    I think your definition of liberal is different to the original poster of that tweet.

    In that case, New South Wales will also need to be cut off from the rest of the country and also neighboring New Zealand.

    Once the vaccine is available to children and enough children are fully vaccinated, his decision may become less important over time as more and more adults become immune.

    However, we will still need to quarantine all arrivals from countries were not enough people are immune.

    National Cabinet will meet tomorrow in an emergency meeting, the topic will be the fast spreading Omicron strain, I wonder if Dom will back down and make Masks mandatory in NSW, a perfect opportunity for him to do so!!

    Good news today, Perrottet has backflipped over facemasks, they will become MANDATORY from midnight tonight at all indoor areas, well done Premier!!, also from Monday, density limits will be back for all hospitality venues, 1 person per 2 sq metres.

    *Edit*, his hand was forced after NSW recorded 5715 cases of Covid.

    This decision today by Perrottet could end up costing him at the 2023 Election, he has given in to the noisy minority (Anti Vaxxers) now we are in a world of trouble! forget the fact the Omicron is less severe, we know this, but there ae 1,000s who will miss out on family gatherings at Xmas now because of this. (some might say that's a good thing as well, not the point), it didn't have to be as severe as it is now had Dom not given in to the Anti Vax brigade!

    Dominic also dropped proof-of-vaccine requirements not so long ago, but surely proof-of-vaccine requirements are still permitted and maybe some businesses still require them.
    In some U.S state, all Republican, proof-of-COVID-19 vaccine requirements are banned altogether. An example is Florida, under Governor Ron DeSantis, a republican who does not want discrimination in his state; "I want people to be able to live their life, whether you're gay or whether you're religious".
    Apparently, he also wants people to live their lives whether or not they are vaccinated against COVID-19, and possibly whether or not they are vaccinated against any other respiratory illness as he has no problem with typical requirements for vaccines against non-respiratory illnesses such as polio and measles. Ron has also rejected implementing restrictions applying to vaccinated as well as unvaccinated people, that is, the sort of restrictions applied around the world before there was a vaccine.

    Many here refuse to believe the vaccines block transmission but there is data showing the infection rates are a lot lower among the vaccinated.

    Which in itself is absolute proof that vaccines do NOT block transmission. If they did the infection rate among the vaccinated would be zero.
