I've seen on Facebook about it running today which is awesome, I'm just wondering is it operating to its full potential [canteen], or not? Because if no canteen it shouldn't start until it's fully operational. Thank you in advance. I need to go on one in the new year

Just having a quick trawl of YouTube for the new standard gauge Velo and came up with a few select at random.

We need Woodford to do a report on this, but s'pose he's watching from up stairs.

Unsure how to post just the link without the other screen bit so just hit the link.

A couple of pics of the changes at Albury taken on 30 Dec 2021.  The dead-end derail siding has been extended halfway to East Street, concrete sleepers placed under the runaround loop, and a bunch of conduit is sticking out of the ground for some services or other - power, water, other?

Assuming the recently extended deadend/derail is extended further and becomes the Vlo stabling area, note how it would be in the way of future double track through this location, according to the track alignment and position of the East St underbridge. Shortsighted, or is ARTC ensuring the stabling area is closer to Atkins St?

What is the design fuel range of a Vlocity 'pit to pit'? Anyone know, please?

Wouldn't the run around track be a better place to stable trains overnight ?

The deadend / derail siding looks like It's been extended to fit a full 6 car train In It.

I can't see duplication between the Murray River (Vic side) and Albury being on the agender any time soon, due to the 4 way junctions at Albury (that comes off the single track)

You start putting cross overs In (with double track) and the costs of track and signaling goes through the roof and for what benefit ?

The bridge over the murray will need replacing as part of inland rail, and you would see such a thing happen at that point. The existing bridge is heritage listed, and as such cant be modified to allow for double stacked container trains.

The new bridge will probably be a simple single track bridge over the waterway (with abutment and pile provision for 2 spans) If there Is a future need a second span would be added.

2000 kilometers is the approximate range for a full tank.

Measuring on Google Maps (such a useful resource for the armchair cynic Smile), a 6 car Vlo will only just fit between the East St bridge Nth abutment and the fouling point, in the existing configuration. 'Twill be interesting to see what they do here.

But you are correct Nightfire, an extra crossover and signalling(!) pushes the costs up dramatically.
However, if and when double track through this area is justified, reconfiguring Albury Sth will not be an impediment, just a necessary cost.

Where is the space to do this?

Do you mean space for a new bridge?

There is sufficient space for a new bridge both upstream and downstream of the existing structure. A more favourable alignment is on the upstream side but would be longer. A downstream structure would mean a shorter alignment but with multiple curves.

Haven't seen it anywhere else on RP, but SG set SN8 was transferred to SRHC for 'storage' based on a comprehensive Youtube video posted by Railways of Doom

Comments posted say that with the next two SG V'lo's one (or more) N class will return to BG
