I think a good test is to ask if any traffic coming off the Mildura line on SG is going anywhere else but Melbourne or Geelong?A small fraction of the grainys on the line have been going to Portland. That's it.

The failure isn't because it is now SG instead of BG but because victrack or whomever is in charge screwed up the conversion process so badly that it would seem to have been better if nothing was done at all. Even the ARTC would have done a better job.

R766,Currently the bottle neck is Tatyoon to Ararat, Trains have to be held at Emu, Maryborough, Maroona or Tatyoon if there is the opposing move in transit.
Why do they need a crossing loop at Elmhurst?
Often, we don't even get one train a day, either direction on the line!
Another crossing loop isn't going to gain 3 trains each direction every day.

This massive screw-up is too big to be a mistake, it was a deliberate act by the government to ensure the Transurban project for trucks to the Port of Melbourne was protected.Deliberate? I don't think so; that would imply a degree of competence and coordination ... .

All these posts don't disguise the fact the Mildura line is buggered because it is sg.No it is buggered because Marybourough-Geelong isnt SG compatible as was planned.
