And yet another garbage Thursday morning due to an earlier trespasser at North Melbourne. It throws half the day out of whack for nearly everything. The network isn't very resilient.

Not an incident or disruption but this evening's PM UP Swan hill sauntered in to Sunbury on a Clear, Medium Speed aspect which puzzled me a bit. Next thing I know we are slewed across to the Through track due to Metro having parked a Spark in the Up platform
This of course meant another slew back on to the Up Main on the Up side of the Gap Road LX.
I reckon that is a first for me on a loco hauled service which usually have the benefit of better pathing from Metrol than the DMUs do.

Loco hauled services seem to get priority treatment, I assume because they want to keep them moving as they are slower and take longer to get up to speed from a stand than the DMUs hence they could hold up other more important (read Metro) services on the line
Hell, tonight they even held a Down spark on the run out of Sunshine for us to do the crossover onto the RRL. I seen it with my own eyes!!!

Spent a few hours at Newport today enjoying the open day. V/line had a 3 car Velosette on display along with their "Connecting Victoria" marquee.
I thought about going over and giving them a piece of my mind but decided against it.

The 5 car service replaced by a 3 car V/locity. And it's a Collingwood game. At Docklands. Gonna be a squeeze by Gizzy!
The seniors sitting next to me who bought First class upgrades at CME (and got charged full fare) are well impressed!
***edit, just noticed that the PIDS is saying Next station is Kerang!!! I thought that.......

Today I managed to catch the AM down Warrnambool and hard to believe, it ran on time!
I was travelling from Sunshine, with a paper ticket requiring me to catch the earlier Waurn Ponds VLocity service and change at Geelong as Warrnambool N sets run express Footscray - Geelong.
My gut instinct told me to catch a Metro train to Footscray and change there, which gave me more options if a connecting train was delayed or cancelled. My ticket did not cover me for travel into Zone 1 so a Myki was required.
As we sailed through Wyndham Vale on the N set, I noticed a 6 car VLocity shunting to the stabling yards, followed by a crowd of commuters loosing hope of getting to Geelong before 9am.
Sure enough, when I checked the V/Line app the preceding service was terminated at Wyndham Vale due to a train fault.
So not a complaint from my end, but a timely reminder to trust your instincts.

All V/Line trains on time and no cacellations today!Yes, back to some sort of normality on the Bendy line too with the temporary time table gone along with the speed restrictions so things feel pretty sane - we even have a 3 carriage Up PM Swanners so normal service has resumed!
Had a laugh en route, we had a PT newbie board at Castlemaine this evening, jumped on the train not realising that it didn't stop at Woodend. He was waiting for the 16.49 but because there is only 20 minutes between the 2 he assumed it was running early (yeah, I know, right!)
Myself and another passenger coached him on changing trains at Gisborne and there was one due 5 minutes after us on the other platform so he will actually get to Woodend around 5 minutes earlier than he would have on the Velo but we couldn't make him understand that if we tried!

Great run on the Up Swan Hill this evening. The service arrived pretty much on time into Castlemaine which is a bit of a rarity but was stood at the platform for more than 5 minutes after some idiot activated the wheelchair help button by leaning his bag against it and then sat there trying to connect to the internet without noticing...
Anyway after I had apologised profusely to the Connie we had what felt like a full line speed run into Footscray. It was a joy to behold after some of the trips I have had recently.
I reckon me delaying the service gave it the perfect window for that run. Or at least that's what I'm telling myself!

I have to go and pick up some pallets in Brooklyn on Monday and steel caps are a requirement to enter the site. So I packed my RedBacks into a Woolies bag and hooked them over the handle of my travel case.
The train was PACKED so when I spied a spot on the Yellow seats in between the toilet wall and a family's holiday baggage I grabbed it, shoved my case against the wall and got out the laptop.
The steel caps did the rest.......
