I need help.
I have a Southern Rail U Boat power car which has a "clicky" gear needing replacement.  Despite a lot of looking and poking, I can't see how to disassemble the bogie.  It seems to have a longitudinal cover but I can't see how to get an instrument under one end to pop it off.
I have contacted Southern Rail but no reply.  I have also searched this site but no result.
Has anyone successfully pulled apart a U Boat bogie?  How is it done?

I first removed the worm gear cover by inserting a flat head jewellers screwdriver through the bogie sideframe and prying it away from the tabs. Once this is loose the bogie can be dropped away from the car.  

The bottom plate and side frames are one moulding, and can be pried from the gearbox with a flathead screwdriver.

You may not need to replace the gears. The factory grease on my u-set dried up, which created a bit of noise as it ran. Once each gear was cleaned with an old toothbrush and metho (or IPA), and then re-greased - it was like new.

Thanks Barkfast.  That worked.  One driving gear was cracked and had to be taken off.  My Black Gear replacement doesn't fit it.  Unfortunately, that means one less driven axle and now my U boat set won't climb my 1:40 grades.  But that's another story and another problem to solve.  Thanks again.
