2110 left East Tamar this morning on it's way to the Bellarine Railway.

Time for an update on what's what, with the EOI's accepted or otherwise, as follows:

EOI's received but advised as being held over to the New Year & subject to the removal from ETJ of the above:

• 2111 (Z2)
• 2115 (ZA2)
• 2128 (ZB14)
• 2100 (ZP1)
• 2101 (ZR2)

Good to have that extra info thanks Steve, when I saw the list I was surprised by some of the conspicuous absences.

While not EEs, the old stalwart Beaver tamper and one of the old ballast regulators have been sold (and delivered) to Bellarine.

I am hoping that the locos noted above, whose EOI's were set aside for the present, will be released to the interested Tasmanian party, when most of the other locos have been shifted to their new homes.

I'm surprised the Beaver went. I knew the old EBR tamper was up for disposal, but was advised it is so mechanically stuffed, it would be almost be cheaper to buy a new one than try and rebuild that. Whilst its a shame the Beaver and two of the 'Z's are leaving the state (esp. Tasmania's historic first Co-Co heavy diesel), it is at least heartening that they aren't going to scrap.

I had read on a Facebook page that the EBR tamper (UST16) was destined for WCWR along with TR1.  Cheers.

Busy day at New Norfolk

As noted in the post above, Tasrail's last two serviceable 'Y' class Bo-Bo English Electric 6SRKT's have been delivered or are in transit to their new homes.

Class leader No. 2150 (ex Y1) was loaded aboard a visiting low loader from Victoria, at East Tamar Jctn Workshops on Tuesday (17th) and transported south to the Derwent Valley Railways base at New Norfolk, on Wednesday (18th) accompanied by bogie side dump hopper wagon, HC1 and ballast plough ZP2.

The low loader then went to collect classmate No. 2151 (ex Y5) "Sir Charles Gairdner" from Brighton Hub Yard, which was then trucked north as far as Epping Forest on Thursday (19th). This morning, it was temporarily left at East Tamar Junction, with some other loco deliveries due before Y5 is taken the rest of the way to Diesel Traction Tasmania's (aka Launceston & North Eastern Railway's) new base at Lilydale.

The 'Z' series 12CSVT E.E. Co-Cos's, so far allocated for preservation, will be moving shortly. Further updates to follow....

2114(ZA1) has arrived at Don River Railway, this morning.

And this morning 2112 (Z3) has followed 2114 to Don.

Ticking off 12CSVT's list, that leaves just the LNER/DTT units from the original list to move from East Tamar to Lilydale.

Obviously there has been some coordination to have the truck over to do all these moves at once.  
I assume when it returns to Victoria it will have 2113 on the back?

Well, might be a good time to seek some air-braked passenger carriages.

Word is that L&NER has withdrawn their interest in 2133 & 2138, due to them having been subject to a large amount of copper theft.  They do have EOI's in on other units but no details at this time.

It's good to see some of the old girls are being preserved, don't really care about the piles of excrement we purchased from Qld (brother did they see AN coming with those) when at the time they could of still brought brand new ZA's with all the bells and whistles for not a lot more but that was AN management, always looking for a cheap way out.

• 2123 / ZB5 loaded at ETJ on 26/5/2022 (today) > Delivery to Lilydale 27/5/2022 (tomorrow)

• 2113 / Z4 loading at ETJ on 27/5/2022 (tomorrow) > Delivery to Bellarine Railway, 31/5/2022 (via D'port & Searoad, Mon. 30/5/2022)
