Another trip to Mackay...traffic very light on rail and road...

06.30 Killymoon Creek - 82P3 PN002

08.10 Merinda - rakes of cement containers in Aurizon yard.

16.10 Mackay Yard - 8C49 arrives with single 2800

16.30 Mackay Yard - 8C49 departs for the north while a 1720 begins shunting the container terminal

19.55 Guthalungra - a PN class with 87P4

20.20 Inkerman - Double headed Clydes leaving southern end of the yard with 8796, while 8C49 heads out the northern end of the yard (that's an average of 71km/h for the 272km from Mackay).

20.25 Home Hill - 8C49 blasts through town while we're having a crew change Smile, but we beat it to the bridge...just

21.30 Nome - 8798 rolling south...it had green lights at Storth so probably crossed 8C49 at Cromarty

Monday 13/01/2014: 8192 (light engine only) ran through Roma Street to the standard gauge dead end, turned around and promptly left at 9.25 AM.  No sign of AK cars at all.

1000hrs - C17 974 departs the workshops as train RE30 to Warwick on loan to the Southern Downs Steam Railway while C17 971 is in for repair.

IT'S full steam ahead for Southern Downs rail enthusiasts with the arrival of a replacement train in Warwick later this afternoon.
 The Southern Downs Steam Railway has successfully found a temporary replacement for their train, which had a major breakdown in November last year.
 SDSR secretary Bob Amos said the new steam train would arrive in Warwick after 5pm this afternoon.
 "We have been negotiating with Queensland Rail who are loaning us an alternative steam locomotive," he said.

08.05 Wilmington - 8273 being hauled by a single Clyde

08.20 Kaili - 4106/4114 & 4116 (open to correction) on an Abbot Point bound coal train

11.30 Mackay Yard - the 1720 off 8776 puts together its own train while the yard shunter (another 1720) sits nearby.

12.30 Mackay Yard - 8C49 arrives with 2800/2470 combo

12.35 Mackay Yard - 8776 departs with 2170/1720 combo hauling 17 wagons

13.00 Mackay Yard - 8C49 departs with 32 wagons after refueling the locos

16.30 Mackay Yard - 8G16 arrives with 2170F/2470 combo hauling another 2170F, 6 VGH grain hoppers from Merinda, 4 106-tonne hoppers from Merinda and a rake of cement and general containers. Locos shunt their own train, dropping the grain hoppers and adding at least another 12 BCZY carrying general containers that didn't go south on 8776

17,05 Mackay Yard - 8279 departs after quick crew change

18.45 Bloomsbury - 8279 waiting in loop to meet P974 Sunlander heading south

08.10 Kaili; 4103/4111 with another 4100 mid train stopped across the Abbot Point road with an empty coalie

11.00-17.30 Mackay Yard; absolutely nothing happened, no trains, no shunting...possibly a sign of the times with the 8209 'The Big Train' heading north later that night.

20.00 Bowen Station; P984 Sunlander in the platform and only just clear of the Bruce Highway level crossing at Don

20.30 Guthalungra; 87P4 southbound with a single PN class

20.40 Gumlu; 8796 southbound with a Clyde on the front (and possibly working solo)
