This is a question I am wondering, as Ipswich is low lying, and I was wondering, what preservation society's would have been hit by the flood waters?
So far, Archer Park Station and Bundaberg Railway Historical Society have escaped flood damage.
Unfortunately, Aust Sugar Cane Railway in the Gardens at Bundaberg has been inundated with major buildings and tracks damaged.
The Mary Valley Railway is on higher ground than the roads in and out of Gympie, and is part of the local flood response plan to bring food/medical supplies (and people) in and out of town during floods.
It's good to see a way that our hobby can assist when possible.
A decision will be made early tomorrow, 13 January 2011, regarding the running of the shuttles between Old Gympie Station and Monkland. The Valley Rattler has carried 3000 passengers, over 127 crates of milk over 300 loaves of bread, 2 bales of hay, eggs, chooks and meat over the past three days. My thanks to all concerned.
