Eureka Blog Update

  M636C Minister for Railways

P.S. By the way M636C, who are you, how about a name?

"rpilgrim"

With respect, while you have used a real name I have no idea who you are.

I can't use my real name on this site because there is an unrelated poster with the same name who claimed it first.

I believe my posts can be judged on what I say rather than who I am.

Many people on this site know who I am, it isn't a secret.

However, it seems fairly clear that whoever advised Eureka on colours and livery detail for the HUB set got it wrong.

Who I am doesn't affect that fact either way. I am just pointing out the errors.

Shooting the messenger won't help.

This thread is showing all of the hallmarks of why people with credible knowledge choose to avoid this forum. Call me an ignoramus but what is the point of all this mudslinging? Is it a case of shuffling deckchairs on the Titanic? It would be interesting to observe whether you blokes (ladies?) would display the same disregard/disrespect for eachother if in person. Relax

Therein lies the problem. These poor blokes/shielas sit at their computer behind a vale of anonimity and rabbit-on about things because they simply have nothing better to do. I'm sick of it, but keep coming back to check this thread for updates, in the hope that somebody might actually have something worthwhile to report.

I just don't understand all this vitriol about shades of paint and steam roller wheels etc.

People pay their money to buy a model that they want. End of story. If they don't like the model they have a choice of not buying it or buying and altering it to suit their requirements.

These are sad little buggars who have no life!

Its not as  if Eureka doesn't have other projects and, as well, it isn't as if projects by other manufactures don't have quality problems or are running late.

The good part about these forums is that they are open to the audience of the whole world, I worry what they think of us Aussies?

But I just want a definitive date for the arrival of my SAR "O" wagons, for the record, I will be happy with whatever shade of dark grey they come in, unfortunately we have the pedantics in SA who will pick the shade of grey as wrong, I just hope somebody took a brake lever of and sent it for paint matching.

Wayne make no mistake, I am in contact with several fellow rail modellers from the US and the UK and the childish reputation of RP is noticed by international modellers for sure and It has been for some time. That in itself is embarrassing and I rarely participate on RP for this very reason. In fact I discourage newcomers joining RP and recommend them to other forums or direct them to local businesses when appropriate (such as Hollywood Foundry). I am a member of forums in the UK and US and never, ever read threads on them which possess any form of nastiness and vindictiveness that spews out of some of the threads her on RP. It is entrenched in this forum, a sad blight on such a large local well-established forum but I stand by my actions. Some may disagree and I respect those members but I know there are just as many who will agree with my comments.

Anyway that's about it, I think head out to the garage and run some OO with some HO at the same time (I'm sure the shade of green on the 08 shunter is not accurate either Wink )

PLEASE NOTE :

There is a topic to stay on, and it is not talking here about what they are talking about.

So you must know the solution, is not to be the problem !

If you are not interested, or fussed, or revelant, do not post, let them go.

So end of topic how good the thread is, the morality, the personal feeling on what is talked about.

PLEASE it stops here.

and I might remove most of it - not split it.

Just on that, I have to disagree slightly, (although I too note that those that complain have never made a product for mass market for themselves) when you pre pay, as in many cases you have to, People pay their money to buy a model and get what the importers are given.

Rereading the numerous posts and the acknowledgments by Eureka i would like to seek some guidence regarding the actual contents of the candy packs of HUB cars offered by Eureka.

1) can someone tell me what cars actually come in the box ?

2) do both terminal cars require some modifications or at the very least recoding to suit the late 80's period ?

3) regarding the mistaken inclusion of an RBH, can i have it confirmed that the model is indeed an RBH and not an RFH incorrectly coded ?

Regards,
Joe.

T359,

I just checked the Eureka blogspot and last post is 20 Jan 13 regarding distribution of RUB sets.

Are you telling me Eureka has abandoned the internet in favour of snail mail?

Spot on there, there's also the blog on the front page of the site now, handy for checking both at the same time. Very Happy

Also helps when you have Update Scanner in FireFox/WaterFox (x64) pointing at that page, lets you know when either/both are updated then...

Just reading through, too, exciting times, the R sounds pretty close now! Very HappyVery HappyVery Happy And March '14 is good for the K, too, more time to pay it off!

Will the Trainorama GM beat the R class?  Which will be the longest "advertised to delivered" model?  Is there a Trainorama Blog thread?

Good to see some potential action with the 40 class, and hard to tell if what we see is what we get but the green has a particularly nice dullness to it typical of how they tended to look in service, before they became filthy dirty that is!

Question is will the Eureka 40's beat the TrainOrama 48 or Austrains 81, looking like it might be odds on at the moment.

Sorry, I was being too literal.  This thread is titled "Eureka Blog Updates" so I fell for the trap of looking at the Blog spot.

Anyhow good to see an update whatever form it came in.

Wolfy, I do not use Firefox and have no intention to change.  Will have to see if Chrome has a similar spotting device.  However, it is easy enough to lurk on here and someone is sure to tell me there has been an update. Laughing

Mark,

When Eureka first announced the R Class I sent Ron an e-mail to the effect don't waste your time on VR stuff.  Stick to the core business of NSWGR.  I would bet at this stage seven or eight years down the track he regrets not taking my sound advice. LaughingLaughing

WTF is that coupling on the front? It looks nothing like a dual coupler that you see on the real R class and just about every model that has ever been released of a VR steam loco. Even his "engineering sample" of the K has a dual coupler, so why can't he do it on the R?

As for the wheels, they look far too shiny, but it's nothing a bit of etch black won't fix.
