Metro to do a qantas and shut down the fleet??

    A caller to the rumour file on 3AW suggested metro are looking at doing a qantas and shutting down the fleet over the breakdown in the EBA.

    A unionist on the Neil Mitchell program alleged Metro had spoken to the state government and him about doing this.

    I don't think now that its out in the public it will get to this but it would cause mayham

    Which was yesterday by the way. I doubt highly that Metro will "do a QANTAS" simply because the dispute is with a union that forms a part of it's workforce. The QANTAS issue was more widespread, the factors here are different.

    2/ More than once you've used the lower case letter "i" instead of "I". That speaks volumes.

    3/ You've also posted a stupid thread on the 4D when a very basic search would have provided the information you're seeking.

    4/ If you'd read threads already posted, you would have got the answer to the asinine "question" in this thread.

    Firstly your assuming it was my choice that I was listening to 3aw

    Secondly whilst I have had an interest in trains for a while I am fairly new to this forum  and prob don't know how to find information as well as others.

    thirdly the point of web forums is to discuss things in threads like this so hence why i started the thread.

    Finally I mayb be a little slack on my grammar at times when I'm trying to post things quickly before the next call comes in in the call centre that I work in. Your obviously perfect so I apologise if I'm not perfect like you.

    Why cant you just reply with a 'constructive counter arguement'?

    like 'There is no hint of that from where I stand', and just keep it at that.

    Weather it is CH7, or 3AW, they are reputable news sources. Ok, they are not perfect, but I am sure they would both object to the slander thrown at them by some in this website are suggesting about these news organisations.


    PRO FOR him airing such a 'rumor'
    There NEEDS TO BE a chance to 'counter the rumor', and there is a need to nothing less than 'broadcast' the counter arguement to the people.

    What can be a better counter action to the 3AW-rumor file, than to get counter reactions posted in a thread like this.

    BAD TO BLOCK THIS
    Vast quantities of people in this state do listen to both CH7 and 3AW, and will take what they say.  If such people 'DO NOT' get the chance to hear about 'counter agruements', then those people will continu to speak about them

    No chance to hear 'counter arguements', this person has no chance whatsoever to air them to family and freinds etc. His/her family and freinds will only get 'The officially public statement, as expressed by ch7 or 3aw etc'.


    TO CONCLUDE
    Many in this website, including some moderators are going way over the top when they try and put a stop at these 're-broadcasting' of public rumors and the likes.

    I read in The Age that both Metro and the unions do not want to do anything that will affect the public...maybe this might answer your question?

    3AW isn't reputable - it's a talkback radio station. Anyone can call up saying anything they like, and if the producer decides to let them on the air, then they can say whatever the hell the want. It's not like they do any fact checking!

    Ah but PWMs are only used when there are passengers waiting for a train that is late or doesn't arrive. If they tell people in advance not to show up does that mean there is nobody waiting, therefore no fines?

    Such a brave knight would no doubt deserve some token of appreciation from us ordinary townsfolk.

    Placate would mean we intend for you to be less angry, and if that happened who would be left to enlighten us poor rubes as to the decay of railway websites in response to the justifiably hangable offence of reposting a rumour off a popular metro radio station and clearing positioning it as such??

    In any case, it has been quite some time since we last had a big long strike.

    I remember us having a few of them, in particular in the early 1990s.  One day we had all trams and trains out during the day, and I was stuck in the city with nothing to ride on all day long.

    Met Trains, Trams and all Vline passenger and freight where on a stop work meeting that day.

    Been a while since we had a big event like that.
