Yarra Trams Incidents Thread

On Yarra Trams' website there is a notice about the Victoria St. track and overhead renewal works, which mentions that stop 18 Hoddle St. (to Port Melbourne / St Kilda) will not be serviced.  The author of the notice somehow forgot that the stop has been relocated from the east side of Hoddle St. to the west side of the crossover, and converted to a platform stop.

It looks like a lot of disruptions today.  There was a broken rail in Wellington Pde. resulting in route 75 diverted via Swan St. and route 48 & 109A running in sections.  There are scheduled infrastructural works in Victoria St. requiring Bridge Rd. be used as a deviation route, then the deviation route was out.  The Simpson St. crossover was not used on either sections of route 48 and 109A, so the broken rail must have been exactly within the shunting area of Simpson St.  Historically there had long been a broken rail on the west side of the then Clarendon St. safety zone on the up, which did not interfere with tram operation.  After the tracks were relaid around 2004 or 2005 the same problem shortly redevelopped.  Drivers suspected that there had been a water leakage washing away the embankment.  I'm not sure how related it is to today's track defect.
Then there was a truck blocking Swan & Burnley Sts. requiring the opposite to earlier today's divertion taking place, route 70 diverted via Bridge Rd.

Citadis 3005 had an argument with a cement mixer in Collins St today according to 7 News.

Interestingly they diverted route 12 via Bourke St., the most difficult deviation route to drive.  If I was the FOC controller I would have route 12 continue to operate via Collins St. but terminating at Swanston St., then using the Russell St. crossover to shunt.  This way there would still be some Collins St. services operating.  Passengers bound for Victoria St. can change to route 109 at Melbourne Convention Centre.  Trams trapped between Victoria Gardens and Gisborne St. would proceed to St Kilda via LaTrobe St.

Date and time
Beginning Sunday 2 May until further notice

Reason for service changes
We are experiencing delays to replacement wheel deliveries from its South African supplier due to COVID restrictions.

As a result, we have temporarily removed some A-Class, B-Class and Z-Class trams from service until wheel shipments arrive.

Therefore timetable modifications will be needed across six routes until the issue is resolved.

Service changes
The following routes will run an amended timetable during peak travel time:

Route 70 and 75 trams run approximately every 10 minutes.
Route 19 trams run approximately every 6 minutes.
Route 58 trams run approximately every 5 minutes.
Route 59 trams run approximately every 6 minutes.
Route 109 trams run approximately every 10 minutes.
A shuttle service will run as Route 70a between the Docklands and Rod Laver Arena to help keep passengers moving in the city.

In conjunction with the off-peak saver, passengers have the benefit of 30% discounted fare between 7pm and 9pm extended peak service.

We recommend you plan ahead, allow extra time for travel and remember to wear a face mask for your complete journey.

I've noticed several B2's have been moved from various depots, most likely due to the shortage. How can Route 58 and 59 have more trams running during peak if there is a tram shortage?

Not more trams from impression.  It's about the usual frequency.  I think it's just a caution that the actual times might vary.  Although I'm surprised that there is a reduction on route 109 services, whose tram type is not affected.
