We're heading into recession, so spending on infrastructure is a great thing to do to keep the economy afloat.

Mike, I didn't mention the R word. But one of the most bullish Treasurers in recent memory has said he has concerns and told the public service to cut back their wage demands. I think that it's a pretty reasonable thing to have concerns.
I think it's more a case of the Treasurer being opportunistic. Like any manager of any business, at the end of the day he will use any excuse available to him to talk down any prospect of significant wage rises that will cost the business more than necessary.

To be honest I can't work out why others haven't seen through this as well?
