V/Line Incidents/Disruptions #2

Plenty of delays for V/Line trains through Footscray this morning. Geelong and Bendigo groups seemed to be affected but not Ballarat.

The Down Bendigo service that I am on was delayed around 15 minutes and the CSO on the platform said it was because they were waiting for a driver!?!?!?!

Yet another trespasser standing in the middle of the track has caused a bit of havoc and put trains out of position. I'm assuming you were on 8011 (0905 dep from SCS)? This is rostered to be formed off an ex Wyndham Vale but was formed off an ex Sth Geelong instead which arrived late.

Sounds like Up SCT Dooen is involved in an LX Crossing crash with a truck at Vite Vite.

Rescue in progress.

On the Up Wheelslip Special from Castlemaine to Southern Cross this evening along with maybe 10 or 15 other people.

Arrived into Sunbury pretty much on time, doors open, one passenger boards and the next thing the Up spark in the other platform starts to pull away. Yep, for whatever operational reason Centrol have sent the SAS spark out ahead of the express regional service.

Sit back and relax, this might take a while.......

***edit, if I were wearing a hat I may well be eating it by now. Not sure what levers were pulled or buttons pressed but after an initial delay out of Sunbury we are cruising pretty nicely. Still stuck behind something or another but making much better time than I feared we would***

***edit too, arrived into Footscray a little less than 5 minutes behind the (padded) timetable so not a bad result at all in the end***

Apologies in advance for being pedantic, but for the sake of accuracy Sunbury panel is run by Metro and is located in Craigieburn. Centrol (which is V/Line) unfortunately has no control of situations like this.

In other news regarding Sunbury, Metro have out of the blue decided that trains can no longer run over facing points at 160km/h and now must slow down to 130km/h. No idea why but as it doesn't affect their trains at all I doubt it will revert back to 160km/h any time soon.

Thanks Jakar, you are of course correct, I was typing without thinking.

As an aside I had been staring at a laptop screen most of the trip and as it was dark I got disoriented. I thought we had passed Sunbury already, we may have been stopped out near Rupertswood after running on a reduced aspect.

I looked up when I heard a door open and a passenger alight, realized where we were and at that very moment the spark took off.

Maybe it was all just a dream!!!

The Sunbury - Bendigo line interface is an absolute farce.  An endless source of mistakes and stupidity since 2012...

Here we go again! On board the 9.06 Down Bendigo, stopped before Albion after METROL put an all stopping spark in front of us our of Sunshine

It wouldn't even have had to be held for 30 seconds for us to get through. Now we will stop - start all the way to Sunbury and lose at least 10 minutes, probably more.

What an absolute joke of a system

***edit - total confusion here this AM. We were stopped at Albion for quite a few minutes, longer that I would have expected for trailing a spark. The Connie come over the PA and said that an SAS spark had been given the path and we would be stop starting all the way to Sunners

Haven't stopped since, now passing Calder Park at line speed and at grave risk of catching up to the TT by Sunbury. Strange days indeed....... ***

Did YOU report this Brenton Question

If you and and or other pax don't report these ridiculous pathing decisions by Metrol controllers how will these stupid decisions by these controllers be stopped.

BTW, did you run through the spark at Watergardens Question

Not really the right place for this, but if you use the V/Line journey planner to search for any trip from Melbourne to Warrnambool from now until the end of the year, the 13.09 SSS departure states:

"service will arrive into Warrnambool 15 minutes later than scheduled due to the running of a heritage train. Thank you for your patience during this time."

I believe this relates to a heritage train that operated for one day in April, but the message is still up. How truly hopeless is V/Line's website?

No because as reported the announced delay never really happened. I have reported such things before. Got a lovely collection of form letter responses to show for it!!!

I can never tell if we are running through a spark or not at WG, so many services originate / terminate there that I can't ever work it out!

On the 16.49 Up Castlemaine currently stopped on the Down side of Sunbury due to a Police Operation at Sunbury Station. Who knows how long we will be here.

And as we are in V/Line territory what's the bet that we get left to rot out here while Metro sorts itself out and gets it's trains back on some sort of schedule

Oh the joys of Public Transport

***edit*** Moving again now after 15 minutes or so resting near Rupertswood. Will be interesting to see how we go from here in, whether we have a couple of Sparks in front or not

Well the reopening of the Bendigo line after a two week shutdown hasn't gone well. This morning's flagship express cancelled due to a train fault.

Leave a Vlo in the yard for two weeks and it doesn't work...

Power outage in CBD all lines shut..

MAJOR CBD POWER OUTAGE AFFECTING ALL V/LINE NETWORK SERVICES.
Due to a power fault in the CBD, all V/Line trains will be replaced by coaches until further notice.
We are trying to source as many coaches as possible but due to limited availability, many services may not have coaches arranged for the next 90-120 minutes. Passengers should defer non essential travel.

V/line has become a laughing stock how should a power outage in the CBD affect the entire network where is the backup power and systems to protect a state wide network centre from vulnerability.

Sounds a lot like the people running the vaccination programme have been in V/Line.
  Carnot Minister for Railways

Metrol were stuffing around with their Signal and Train Control operations over the weekend.  Is it linked?
