Still getting the outage page every so often and loading is still not great, although better than early in the week

Still very slow here. If there's been any improvement it is not noticeable to me.

Site was very slow to open. Took about a minute; I was just about to give up, when it opened.
Everything I open on site takes about 30secs to open.

Just spent 10 minutes or so typing a post in the Covid thread, stupidly didn't copy it before posting, site crashed and bye bye post, site crashed. Been up and down all day, super slow, it will be a miracle if this one makes is as my screen is all over the shop due to partial page loading

***edit*** hilarious, the site crashed again as I was trying to edit my post above for the duplication of "site crashed". I'll leave it there for posterity I think

Something has been very wrong with the CSS for the last few days.  I'd get page content but no CSS.
This is the first time it's loaded properly for me in days.

Receiving the outage page quite a bit. Sounds more like the connection to the site rather than the site as at times it is fast and other times it is slow but the stats for nerds shows the page is fast to build.

Are there still connection issues me thinks.

I also called the support line to ask a question and the information on the call could not be understood as the co creation was broken up.

There's a support line? Co creation?

It's taking rather a long time to fix this issue...

It's taking in the realm of 4s to generate pages, before they're even sent out. That'll be at least partly responsible for the speed issues.

I just timed loading this page, about 30 seconds from click topic to complete. Compare with, eg, Rail Preservation News: 4 seconds, whirlpool: too fast to stopwatch. Railpage is easily the slowest loading forum I look at, and always has been. And many times it never finishes loading completely and just has the spinny page-loading thing going on forever..

The data centre was unmanned throughout the lockdown? That's somewhat perilous...

No, the datacenter was manned - but those people aren't responsible for Railpage's servers; they're responsible for making sure it's not on fire, and still has power and cooling.

There are also working from home for some staff and also restrictions on allowing customers into the DC during lockdown.

If the customers can't get access to their equipment due to lockdown (or any other eventuality) this is a poor business model. Perhaps the customers should rethink their position.

Lockdown causes everyone issues and staff in any business need to be protected from possible transmission.
