Today I spotted some recent re-sleepering on the main line in the vicinity of the TTMS between the the rivulet bridge and the YMCA building near Elwick Rd crossing.
40-50 steel sleepers have been inserted, looks like replacements for timber sleepers. There are half a dozen or so other sleepers removed awaiting replacements.
Noticed also some maintenance work on the mainline points leading to the parallel TTMS access line.
Replacement steel sleepers don’t have insulating pads inserted as per the many previously inserted steel sleepers.
I assume this work is part of the preparations for TTMS trains to access the Glenorchy-Chigwell section of the Hobart rail route.
