    But we fail to agree on a line between Tennant Creek and Mount Isa as an alternate route between the north and south of this vast country.

    We have no need for Tennant Creek - Mt Isa unless we 'need' another break-of-gauge!.

    Developments by Talgo in Spain make Gauge Change bogies feasible for eliminating the break  of gauge for freight wagons between Tennant Creek and Mt Isa. Locomotive of lowish powere are also plausible.

    Regarding potential mineral traffic TC-MI is still largely unexplored.

    Because of limitations of size of traction motors on narrow gauge Gauge Change bogies, Co-Co may need to be replaced by dual Bo-Bo+Bo-Bo.

    Which side of the river is the left bank on?

    Which electrification system be used (if any)? 25kV, 16.7kV, 3kV or 1.5kV?

    What the floods have shown us is rerouting of rail traffic into and out of Queensland is important and the link should be connected to the northern inland rail line to Gladstone.

    I recall reading here we were having a 1 in 100 year event. That was 3 floods ago this year.
