Hard to believe it's over 20 years since I snapped this pair of broad gauge Australian built EMD products at Dimboola, Victoria on Saturday afternoon in July 1993.
A70 was built by Clyde Engineering in 1953 as B70 with a 567B engine. It was heavily rebuilt by the same company and fitted with a 645E3B engine and head end power in 1985.
It is running around the passenger consist it has just brought in from Melbourne, a service which in a matter of weeks would be withdrawn.
On the left is 3000hp G537, also built by Clyde Engineering (1989), stabled over the weekend with an empty grain consist.
