1800 h.p. S-313 and 1500 h.p. class leader B-60 cross over the Broken River bridge at Benalla with the 'up' "Rutherglen Red" passenger train.
The "Rutherglen Red" was a tourist train that ran in the late 70's, early 1980's and departed Melbourne on Saturday morning to Rutherglen, and returned to Melbourne on Sunday evening.
During the journey, passengers would be offered food and wine from the Rutherglen area of Victoria. During the stay in Rutherglen, passengers would visit various wineries in the area to sample and purchase wines.
On the way home on Sunday, more wine and food would be consumed and by the time the train arrived back in Melbourne, the passengers would "be out of it".
The train would usually consist of old wooden carriages as the passengers would normally trash them on the way home. 5:12pm, Sunday the 1st of November, 1981.
