Carrizo Gorge Railway, Inc. (reporting mark CZRY) was a railroad operator on the San Diego and Arizona Eastern Railway (SD&AE) from Tijuana, Mexico to Plaster City, California (Tijuana Tecate Short Line and Desert Line).
This section of the line is currently out of service so is safe to explore the many tunnels and trestle bridges. The largest Trestle bridge on the line is at Goat Canyon which is accessible from the De Anza Springs Resort which abuts the line at the southern end of the gorge.
Trains are currently suspended but will resume in 2018. This gives the explorer an opportunity to review the line and the infrastructure.

This is an open environment and water must be carried. For a good exploration session you should allocate 5 hours for the return journey.
For an preview of the line which will provide some highlights see
The best way to access the Desert Line is to drive and park at De Anza Springs Resort, Carrizo Gorge Road, Jacumba Hot Springs, CA. From here the line is very accessible.
Plenty at the entrance to De Anza Springs Resort.
Not feasible.
None available. You will need to carry your own provisions.
