Transport networks across Auckland have been affected by severe weather, but the brunt of Cyclone Cook has yet to arrive.
The ferry to Pine Harbour from Auckland, due to leave at 5.20pm, has been cancelled, replaced by a bus leaving from Quay Street.
Train commuters are being advised to expect possible delays and cancellations on the Southern Line due to earlier flooding near Manurewa.
Train services between Papakura and Pukekohe have re-opened after flooding closed the line earlier on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, with heavy rain falling across Auckland the following roads remain closed:
Auckland South East
* Kawakawa Bay Coast Road is closed due to slips, access for residents and emergency vehicles only.
• East Coast Road is closed due to slips.
• Franklin Road in Pukekohe is closed due to flooding.
* The Great North Road and Clark Street intersection in New Lynn is closed due to flooding.
• Bethells Beach Road is closed between Stoney Creek Drive and Duffy Road, due to slips.
The New Zealand Transport Agency and Auckland Transport have issued a joint warning to drivers to take extreme care on Thursday.
The worst of the forecast bad weather is expected to hit the Auckland and Northland regions from about midday on Thursday, creating more problems on the roads with expected heavy Easter weekend traffic.
Heavy rainfall and strong winds means there may be road closures and restrictions.
Drivers should plan ahead, check road conditions before leaving home and if necessary, use alternative routes, delay travel or change their plans.
