MURRAY Bridge drivers need no longer crawl across the Mannum Road railway crossing.
Railway workers were forced to re-do a "routine rail upgrade" at the crossing yesterday, after a bungled job last Monday and Tuesday left the tracks raised too high.
Speed limits were reduced to 40 kilometres per hour in the area for the week to yesterday, and many motorists slowed to under 20kph for fear of getting airborne.
The rail operator, Australian Rail Track Corporation, said the upgrade was one of 16 carried out per year and a standard procedure.
However an ARTC spokesperson yesterday said last week's bungle was "unfortunate" and workers were onsite yesterday to "even out the bump
