Guyra Shire Council is to approach the Australian Rail Track Corporation to resume responsibility for the lease of three railway stations in the shire.
The council currently leases the stations at Black Mountain, Guyra and Ben Lomond and then sub-leases them to local community-based committees.
It has been told the current arrangements expose the council to a large and unnecessary risk of public liability.
Mayor Robyn Jackson says the council has acted as a 'middle' man for what is a Commonwealth asset.
