Alstom will supply a mobile hydrogen supply unit to Wiener Neustadt depot, south of Vienna, with trials expected to operate to Fehring. The €1.87m contract includes hire, maintenance of the fuel station and the supply of hydrogen.
ÖBB is currently testing various alternative traction systems including Siemens’ battery-powered Desiro Eco, which is operating in revenue service.
