The Wimmera Regional Transport Group says farmers north of Warracknabeal on the Hopetoun train line will not have access to rail freight services for the coming harvest.
GrainCorp has signed a deal with rail provider Pacific National to continue grain freight services in Victoria and New South Wales.
The grain handler met the transport group on Tuesday to talk about the plans for the next harvest.
The group's Darryl Argall says it appears significant parts of the northern Wimmera and southern Mallee will not be serviced.
"The Yapeet line, Pacific National have told them there'll be no trains going up that and we thought they'd be going to Rainbow, so that's a done deal," he said.
"The next line over, the Hopetoun line, they're only going to go as far as Warracknabeal and they won't go further north than that, and so on and so forth as you go across the state.
"The only one that's going to be kept right open is the one that they're upgrading, and that's the Mildura line."
