ČD has been very active recently in obtaining new traction as the railway replaces ageing fleets ahead of the introduction of ETCS across the Czech network.
A tender to lease up to 50 multi-system electric locomotives with an operating speed of 200 km/h and are suitable for operation in Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, Germany and Poland has now closed. ČD is also running a tender for new diesel and hybrid locomotives.
