Bendigo's iconic Tramways Depot has received a $1 million heritage grant from the Federal Government's Jobs Fund.
Grants will also go to upgrade the old Eaglehawk courthouse and the Maldon Museum.
Tramways' spokeswoman Evonne Oxenham says the money will improve the depot's workshop.
"So that we can do more restoration work both for the Bendigo tramways and also other tramways in Australia," she said.
"So it's going to help to improve the services that we offer to all these tramways museums and also the workshop site for tourism visitors."
