A1 No. 60163 Tornado has become the first British steam locomotive to run at 100mph in 50 years.
The 'ton' was spectacularly achieved in the small hours of April 12 between Darlington and York, during a clandestine '90mph test run'. The locomotive had permission to run at 100mph as part of the trial.
