The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) has appointed Regionerate Rail as preferred bidder for the development of the Gowrie to Kagaru section of Inland Rail.
Inland Rail is a 1,700 kilometre rail line that will link Brisbane in Queensland with Melbourne in Victoria.

Regionerate Rail is a consortium made up of Plenary Group, Clough, GS Engineering and Construction, Webuild and Service Stream.
The design and construction elements of the contract are valued at over five billion AUD (3.37bn euros
3.72bn USD). Delivered as a public-private partnership (PPP), the contract also includes a 25-year maintenance phase.
The 128km-long section between Gowrie and Kagaru is the most geographically challenging part of the line and includes a 6.2km tunnel through Australia’s Great Dividing Range – the largest diameter freight tunnel in the southern hemisphere.

This appointment follows on from ARTC awarding Arcadis the contract to design the signalling for Inland Rail last month, and Martinus chosen as the preferred contractor for delivery of the Inland Rail sections in December.
