The homicide squad has been called in to investigate the death of a baby who was hit by a train in Melbourne's east.
Police said the three-month-old and a woman were both struck about 5.10pm on Sunday at Kumbada Avenue in Upwey.

Ambulance Victoria confirmed the woman was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a stable condition.
The woman remains in hospital under police guard where she is battling serious injuries.
Victoria Police said homicide squad detectives were investigating the incident.
