V/LINE trains were delayed on Thursday after a series of issues on the Bendigo line.
A broken boom arm at a level crossing in Kangaroo Flat about 11am led to a series of delays in the afternoon.
Trains were not able to move through the section of track until crews arrived to start repairing the boom arm.
Trains were then able to move through the crossing at slow speeds, while crews completed repairs.
A number of trains on the Bendigo line were also delayed on Thursday because of an animal strike near Harcourt, a train fault, a signal fault in Sunbury, and a tree branch that had fallen on the tracks in Woodend.
Some trains were delayed by up to 35 minutes, while other services were unable to run for all or part of their journey.
"We would like to thank passengers for their patience while we worked to keep them moving following a number of unrelated incidents on the Bendigo line," a V/Line spokesperson said.
"Traffic management was put in place at a level crossing in Kangaroo Flat to allow trains to safely pass through while crews repaired a damaged boom arm."
Passengers were directed to catching coaches or travel on the next service depending on what was the fastest way for them to reach their destination.
