Australia is considering implementing a travel ban for all of Europe.
And existing travel bans applying to Iran, China, South Korea and Italy have also been extended by a week.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has asked health officials to consider whether a Europe-wide ban would assist in preventing the spread of coronavirus, Health Minister Greg Hunt said on Thursday.
A European travel ban would mean all Australian citizens and permanent residents returning from the continent would be required to self-isolate for two weeks.
Any international visitors would be denied entry.
