Rail customers can now choose to donate their Delay Repay compensation to charity thanks to a new initiative by TransPennine Express (TPE).
Anyone who experiences a delay of 15 minutes or more can apply for a refund through the company’s Delay Repay scheme with a new option to donate this money to leading UK charity, Action for Children.
TPE is working with Action for Children to provide vital mental health support for vulnerable and disadvantaged children across the UK.
Action for Children believes every child should grow up safe and happy. That’s why they provide support to help them thrive – and step in to help when things get tough through the Coronavirus pandemic and beyond.
If a customer selects the option to donate their compensation, then 100 per cent of this amount will go straight to the charity.
Victoria Snell, Customer Relations Manager for TransPennine Express said: “Action for Children offers vital work across the communities we serve which has never been so important given the current situation and impact the pandemic is having on families and individuals all around us. Acts of kindness, however small, can make a big difference right now and this new development allows customers to donate their refund to others, should they wish too.
“Running a reliable service is incredibly important to us but we do appreciate that sometimes things can go wrong and Delay Repay is in place to make sure customers get the compensation they are entitled too. I would encourage anyone that experiences a delay of 15 minutes or more to head to our website to apply for a refund.”
