THE local economy is set for a major economic boost with more than 18 local businesses already contracted to work on the $235 million North East Rail Line upgrade.
Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) has contracted John Holland to complete the upgrade with more than 200 people to be employed at construction peak and more than $50 million set to be injected into the regional economy.
ARTC general manager major projects Ed Walker said this exciting project will not only improve passenger service performance between Melbourne and Albury, but bring a welcome economic boost along the alignment.
