On 7 September Hupac will inaugurate its new terminal in Brwinów, near Warsaw. At the event, Siemens Mobility will present the new features of the Vectron locomotives for freight transport. The opening coincides with the RailFreight Summit in Warsaw. Delegates of this event are able to attend the opening of the terminal by joining the organised site visit.
The latest terminal of Hupac commenced construction in Spring 2021. After the official opening, it still takes a few weeks before trains can run through the facility. Handover to operations is scheduled for Q4 2022, said the intermodal operator.
About the terminal
The Brwinów terminal is located 15 km southwest of Warsaw. It extends on an area of 14 hectares and provides a capacity of up to 180,000 intermodal units per year in phase II. The facility offers rail/road transhipment as well as additional services for intermodal units.
The new transhipment terminal will allow for the consolidation of trains to Russia and China carrying goods from all over Europe. Many intermodal trains depart to Asia from central Poland, and many trains return through the popular border crossing between Belarus and Russia. The operator will be able to handle 740 metre long trains on four transhipment tracks at this centrally located facility.

About the event
The RailFreight Summit Poland is taking place over two days. After the site tour to the Brwinów terminal and a good lunch, the programme kicks off. This year’s topic, ‘Moving to a new reality’, reflects the situation in which the rail freight industry and Poland have found themselves in the past few months.
In a short period, the role of Poland in the international rail freight market changed completely. Whereas it used to be the gateway to Europe for traffic from Asia with the most heavily consumed border crossing on the New Silk Road, it needs to reinvent itself today due to the war in Ukraine. This new reality is at the heart of the discussion at the RailFreight Summit 2022.
Lustrum celebration
The annual RailFreight Summit Poland is celebrating its 5th anniversary this year. Earlier, it took place in Wroclaw, Gdansk, Poznan and Lodz. After a record-breaking edition with 250 attendees last year, this year is set to break new records, bring the rail freight industry closer, and tackle critical topics.
On top of that, the networking drinks and dinner will also be a central part of the two-day event aiming to bring old and new friends together and provide space to rail professionals for one-on-one meetings, networking and new business opportunities.
How to attend?
The procedure is very simple. Go to the event’s website, and first take a look at the programme and speakers. You can also find information about the event’s venue, details on the site tour and why Warsaw is this year’s hosting city, and last but not least, who else attends so that you can arrange your meetings in advance.
