Eastbound services could bypass Richmond Station in Melbourne during the afternoon peak from 2020.
The proposal is part of several ideas being put forward by Metro Trains as the Department of Transport overhauls the timetable to accommodate new trains.
The move would mean eastbound trains on the Glen Waverley, Alamein, Belgrave and Lilydale line would skip Richmond station in the afternoons at peak hour.
Richmond is one of the city's busiest stations.
