Performing Arts Goondiwindi Secretary Lauren McVicar said the group secured funding for 50 folding chairs that are easier to stack away and clean in line with COVID safe practices thanks to grant funding from Inland Rail.
“We recently hosted our first Live at the Hut event, an informal social evening that includes skits, poetry and singing, for the first time in a year due to COVID restrictions,” Ms McVicar said.
“It was a great occasion for the chairs to be officially used for the first time and we are grateful for the grant which allowed us to purchase them.
“Thanks to Inland Rail for helping us maintain a viable performing arts space and provide a vibrant, creative space for Goondiwindi locals to explore the performing arts in all their variations,” she said.
We are proud to give back to our communities that are home to Inland Rail. The Inland Rail Community Sponsorships and Donations program offers funding between $1000 and $4000 for individuals and organisations in regional areas along the route that contribute to local and regional prosperity, wellbeing, and sustainability.
If you have an activity, event or project that will benefit your local community and you represent a community group or organisation that is a not-for-profit or local government body, we welcome your application.
Our next round of applications runs from 1 May 2021 to 31 July 2021. Visit our website or email IRCommunitySponsorships@artc.com.au for information about eligibility requirements, assessment processes, and terms and conditions of funding.
