The new double-track trunk line will enable services to operate at speeds of 320km/h for long-distance trains and 250km/h for high-speed regional trains and will employ ballastless slab track along its route.
The Stockholm and Malmö high-speed line is intended to offer sizeable reductions in journey times between the two cities, and reduce capacity on the existing Southern Main Line, enabling an expansion of rail freight capacity on the conventional network.
